5 BENEFITS OF LOW-CARB AVOCADO SMOOTHIE

The avocado fruit is nutrient dense and packed with nearly 20 vitamins and minerals which include vitamins C, E, K, and B-6, as well as riboflavin, niacin, folate, pantothenic acid, magnesium, potassium, lutein, beta-carotene and omega-3 fatty acids.

Most people fear the amount of fat and calories that come from avocados, in fact, I was one of those people until one day that I finally tapped into the amazing benefits of including avocados into my diet.

Avocados are packed with healthy fats that aid in appetite control. Eating healthy fats supports skin health, enhances the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients, and may even help boost the immune system.

In addition, studies have found that eating a plant-based diet that includes avocados can help to decrease the risk of diabetes, heart disease and obesity and  promoting a healthy complexion and hair, increased energy and weight management.

Below are the 5 benefits of consuming low-carb avocado smoothies:

1.Avocados reduce inflammation (acne culprit).

Avocados contains vitamin E which fights with the bacteria causing acne and fades the acne scars. They are also packed with antioxidants that fight with free radicals damaging the skin cells. The monounsaturated fats like oleic acid present in avocado nourish and moisturize the skin and they contain anti-inflammatory properties that provide relief from swelling, redness and pain. Moreover, when consumed regularly, avocados maintain the blood sugar levels which in turn balances the hormones in the body.

If you are one of those people who suffer from those pesky acne breakouts, say hello to your home remedy. According to recent studies, excess oil production is the main culprit for the development of acne. Hormonal changes, improper hygiene, nutritional deficiencies and stress are some of the factors that trigger excess oil production. The only formula to get rid of acne in long term is nutritional diet and proper skin care.

2. Helps with weight loss

According to the Nutrition Journal, their studies and surveys reveal that people who eat avocado on a regular basis tend to weigh less. Avocados are full fiber and healthy fats that help you feel full and satisfied and when the body digests these fats, neurons are sent to the brain to turn your appetite to the off switch. Also, feeding your body with healthy fats releases stored fat from your body leading to weight loss and help you maintain a healthy weight.

3. Balances Hormones

As mentioned above, hormonal imbalances cause the production of excess sebum and oil in the skin which in turn causes inflammation and acne. This is true for ladies who when they are near their menstrual periods have serious annoying breakouts. The cause of these breakouts are hormones that are out of whack. In order to balance your hormones and reduce the production of acne, one needs to incorporate healthy fats into their diet. Thus, this is where the avocado shines. Now, avocados are rich in monounsaturated fats that help your body absorb and use nutrients, they are loaded with fibre, potassium, magnesium, vitamin E, B vitamins and folic acid which are all critical for maintaining hormonal balance.

4. Promote Hair Growth

Avocados prevent hair loss and promote hair growth. They can also be used to improve the condition of your hair by acting as a moisturizer for dry or damaged hair. Avocados were first used for this purpose by early Egyptians. They are an excellent source of vitamin E, which may promote hair growth, protects areas of the skin, like the scalp, from oxidative stress and damage. Moreover, avocados are a great source of essential fatty acids. (A deficiency in essential fatty acids has been linked to hair loss).

5. Contains anti-aging properties

Avocados have been praised for their high levels of fat-soluble vitamins, Vitamins A and E which are good for fighting aging signs, aid in nourishing, moisturizing, and maintaining a young-look. Cells and cell membranes are kept healthy and there is a delay in senescence, or the natural aging process due to the vitamins in avocados.
